However,publicaccesstoUtah’soutdoorareascouldbeabouttochange.InAugust,theStateofUtahfileda lawsuitwiththeSupremeCourtcallingintoquestiontheBureauofLandManagement’srighttoretainownershipof18.5millionacresofpubliclandinthestate.AmongthelandsinvolvedinthesuitareiconicplacessuchasLabyrinthCanyon,DirtyDevilRiver,andtheFisherTowers.“Thisisjustincrediblyradical,”saysStephenBloch,legaldirectoroftheSouthernUtahWildernessAlliance(SUWA). “UtahistryingtoentirelyupsettheapplecartofhowtheAmericanWestisstructured.�
